About: Born March 20, 1950, in Washington, D.C., William Hurt graduated from Tufts University, attended Juilliard and spent his early years in the theatre, displaying a particular affection for Shakespeare.He made his film debut in Ken Russell's horror classic Altered States (1980), which was soon followed by high-profile roles in Eyewitness (1981), Body Heat (1981) and The Big Chill (1983). His next three films -- Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), Children of a Lesser God (1986) and Broadcast News (1987) -- each earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Actor. He won the Oscar for Kiss of the Spider Woman.Hurt's memorable work has continued ever since with roles in The Accidental Tourist (1988), Until the End of the World (1991), Dark City (1998), Lost in Space (1998), One True Thing (1998), Sunshine (1999), AI: Artificial Intelligence (2001), Tuck Everlasting (2002) and The Village (2004).
